Welcome to my site!
I’m MONK, an Artist, Mother,Wife
I was born in a little state just north of Texas, called Oklahoma ‘twas was my arrival to this physical plane , but growing up I was moving constantly never having a sense of home, family, or belonging. Having been to 15 schools and ten states by the age of 14. As an only child to a single alcoholic mother and absent father, I found myself lost in imagination for security.
My mind was my sanctuary, my heart was gold and my body a temple.
ART has always been my safe place within myself. Through life’s many trials and tribulations I have always had my imagination and creativity to keep me going. I find that I express different aspects of myself depending on the medium I work with.
I pour myself out into every creation I make. Every creation holding a piece of my soul within it.
Art is where I found my sense of purpose, my sense of direction.
I learned through creation that even though life may deal you a challenging deck of cards, it’s not necessarily about the cards themselves, its how you play the game of life with said cards that helps you beat the game and even turn it into your own.
The Arts,Creativity and Sciences go hand and hand and are something we must cherish as a society to keep ourselves aligned with our inner most self as well as show the world our purpose and passions so that we may be more connected with one another. Where would we be without Mozart,Picasso, Marie Curie,Leonardo Da Vinci, Shakespeare,Emily Dickinson and so many more profound creatives ,scholars and intellectuals.
What a gift it is to see the world through the lenses of an Artist, to see beauty in the mundane.
What a blessing it is to listen with a Musician’s ear to hear melodies in the silence.
What a treasure it is to discover like a Physicist and see with your mind and not your eyes.
